Anxiety is the body's warning system trying to alert us to some kind of perceived danger or to pay attention to an area of our lives. When we suppress emotions or don’t assert boundaries we can become anxious, low confidence and low self esteem can also contribute to feelings of social anxiety. A disconnection from ourselves can cause us to feel disconnected from others and these emotions often stem from our early childhood experiences and from the impressions and beliefs that we took on board, our core beliefs and values taught to us by our experiences and the people around us at that time. By revisiting these parts of ourselves and acknowledging and understanding from a different perspective it becomes much easier to let go of old limiting beliefs and patterns of behaviour that may have contributed to your symptoms so that you can be in control of your body and mind. Prolonged anxiety is a sign that our nervous system has become dysregulated and may need some help to reprogram the body back into a state of calm.
